Nightmare

the crashout personality type, explained (what's under the meme)

Crashout is one of 11 types in our test, and only 4% of people got it. Everyone online says they're crashing out. Almost nobody actually is. The opposite result, Nonchalant, came up nearly four times as often.

The trait underneath is high Neuroticism. Neuroticism is how fast your brain goes into alarm mode, and high means the alarm is sensitive and stays on long after the thing has passed. The card calls you the friend whose default state is worried.

We already wrote about the calm version of this: you get the "we need to talk" text, put the phone down, finish your food. Same moment, other side. You read it once, then four more times, and by the time they reply you've already lived through six different endings.

That alarm is a threat detector, and yours works. You catch the flaw in the plan while everyone else is still nodding. You prepare for the version where it goes wrong, so when it does you're the one holding the backup. Most of that worry is just caring about something enough that it costs you.

The problem is the alarm can't tell the difference. A real threat and a message left on read set it off exactly the same, so you live through the disasters that never happen, in full, every time.

The meme treats it as a punchline. For 4% of you it's an alarm that never fully switches off, and it's the reason you see things coming.

This is part of a series on all 11 types.
